Biography Collection

This collection contains information about people, businesses, and organizations currenty or formerly engaged in environmental design and construction in Indiana.

Series 1 consists of reference works: lists of architects, carpenters, builders, and engineers from gazetteers and business directories (1859-1929); membership rosters of the Indiana Society of Architects (from 1919) and the Indiana Chapter, American Society of Landscape Architects (from 1971); rosters of registered professional engineers and architects (1921-1922, 1928-1930, 1973-1982); American Institute of Architects directories (1966, 1974, 1983-present); and several other lists and directories. These are arranged alphabetically by title, and then chronologically.

Seires 2 contains information about specific individuals, firms, and oranizations. The range of material is broad and includes obituaries, newspaper clippings, student-generated reports and papers, oral history interviews, photographs, and several types of publications. Most of the data is about architects, landscape architects, planners, engineers, contractors, and builders. The collection also includes files about architectural historians, preservationists, professional associations, trade associations, and non-profit organizations.

Vertical-file materials in this collection are arranged alphabetically by name of the person, firm, or group. Other types of material are arranged by catalog number.
