Administrative History

Sigma Alpha Iota was founded on June 12, 1903 at the University of Michigan School of Music in Ann Arbor. The founders were seven women who promised to combine their talents and work together to promote music throughout the world. The Iota Chi chapter at Ball State Teachers College was founded November 18, 1946.
