This collection is comprised of a selection of Mrs. Dorris Pike Silverthorn's time with the Delta Zeta sorority alumni chapter of Muncie, IN. Materials in this collection include crapbooks, photographs, and press clippings featuring Mrs. Silverthorn and other Delta Zeta alums ranging from 1939-1972.

Biographical Note / Historical Note / Administrative History

The Delta Zeta sorority was established in 1902 at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Since then, the sorority has expanded to include chapters on many campuses including Ball State University. Since its founding, the sorority has attracted over 247,000 women to its orgainization and promotes a mission of lasting friendship, moral values, and service.

Mrs. Dorris Pike Silverthorn was a local member of the sorority's Muncie chapter. Originally a graduate of Northwestern University, Mrs. Silverthorn eventually settled in Muncie where her husband Frank Silverthorn ran an car repair shop and was active in a local aviation club.
