Biographical / Historical
Groundwork: A Natural Incentive was the first cross-disciplinary, environmental publication produced at Ball State. Through funding from a Green for Green Committee grant, students and faculty from Journalism, Art, English, Natural Resources, Architecture, and Computer Science worked together to publish this mini-magazine twice a semester. The goal of Groundwork was to create an open forum for students, faculty, and staff to share writing and artwork focusing on environmental awareness, ideas, and issues.
The first issues of Groundwork were created in the Spring of 1993. The magazine was distributed to nearly 800 students as well as state legislators, environmental groups, and even Vice President Al Gore. Vice President Gore wrote back, praising the campus' and the organization's efforts on behalf of the environment.
