Scope and Contents
This collection contains the texts of remarks made by Parker accepting the resignation of university president Jerry Anderson in 1981 and announcing the reappointment of Robert P. Bell to the university presidency in 1982. Also included is a clippings file related to Will Parker as well as materials related to a recognition dinner given in honor of Parker’s retirement from the position of president of the Board of Trustees.

Biographical Note / Historical Note / Administrative History
Will Parker was appointed to the Ball State University Board of Trustees in January of 1970, and served in this capacity until January of 1980, at which time he was appointed to the presidency of the board. Parker served as president until his retirement as a trustee on December 31, 1983.
Parker, a prominent banker in Muncie, held executive positions at the Industrial Trust and Savings Bank and was heavily involved in local philanthropic efforts. Parker served as executive director for the Indiana Society for Crippled Children and as a board member, general chairman, and president of the United Way of Delaware County.
Parker enrolled at DePauw University after service in the US Navy during World War II. At DePauw, Parker served as student body president, and earned a B.A. in 1949.
