Charles Greenwood earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees from Ball State University. Greenwood first joined Ball State's faculty in 1961 as an assistant professor of orientation and a currircular advisor. In 1972 Greenwood received his doctoral degree in higher education from from Indiana University. Since beginning his career at Ball State, Greenwood held seveal positions including associate professor of administrative and community education, assistant dean of undergraduate programs, assistant dean of telecommunication services, and assistant dean of the School of Continuing Education. In 1991 Greenwood served as the educational coordinator of the Academy for Community Leadership, and as a liaison officer for the Washington Center in Washington, D.C. Greenwood has also been an active member of several professional and local community organizations, and received the Ball State University Outstanding Black Alumni Award. As of 2012, Charles Greenwood was serving as Ball State's assistant dean of the School of Extended Education and site manager for the Pendleton Correctional Facility.
