Biographical Note

Dr. O.T. Richardson received his bachelor's degree in 1935 from State Teachers College in Moorhead, Minnesota; his master's degree in 1942 from the University of Denver; and his Ph.D. in 1946 from the University of Chicago. He first joined the administrative staff at Ball State University in January 1947 as dean of student affairs, and held this position until his departure in September 1952.

Between 1952 and 1964, Dr. Richardson continued his work in higher education as associate director for the Graduate Institute of Education at Washinton University in St. Louis, Missouri, except for one year spent as resident director of the Survey of Higher Education for the State of Michigan from 1956 to 1957. He also served as a member of the National Education Association's Conference Planning Commission from 1959 to 1960, and as a member of the American Council of Education's Committee on Instruction and Evaluation from 1961 to 1962,

In 1964, Dr. Richardson returned to Ball State as dean of instructional services. In this position, he directed summer programs, and supervised university extended services, the office of research, the library, and examination evaluation schedules. Dr. Richardson also served several terms as president of the Speech and Hearing Foundation of the Exchange Clubs of Indiana, and on March 3, 1970 he participated in a Round-the-World Seminar in Higher Education. Dr. Richardson retired from Ball State in 1975.
