Scope and Contents

This series includes agendas, minutes, speeches, correspondence, notes and documents pertaining to the meetings and issues addressed therein. Yearly folders for time period when meetings were held quarterly include all of the quarters within the year. Provosts represented in the range of this collection include Richard W. Burkhardt from the academic year 1964-1965 to 1976-1977 (Vice President of Instructional Affairs), Norman J. Norton 1978-1979 (Acting Vice President of Instructional Affairs), Richard W. Burkhardt 1979-1980 (Provost), James V. Koch 1980-1981 to 1985-1986 (Provost), Warren C. Vander Hill 1986-1987 to 2001-2002 (Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs), Beverley Pitts 2002-2003 to 2004-2005 (Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs), Deborah Balogh 2005-2006 (Interim Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs), Terry S. King 2006-2007 to the end of the collection (Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs).

Historical Note

All-day faculty meetings typically include remarks from the President, remarks from the current Provost and various speakers on current issues facing the university, committee reports, recognition of faculty achievements and voting on any amendments. In earlier years, the faculty meetings were held each quarter but eventually were limited to one faculty meeting each fall.
