Historical Note

The John Steinbeck Society of America was headed by Ball State professor Dr. Tetsumaro Hayashi. The society's publications largely served to provide an up to date bibliography of scholarship that had been compiled on the work of John Steinbeck. The majority of the society's records date from the late 1960's to the early 70's and document the collaboration of Dr. Hayashi and other Steinbeck scholars.
