Biographical Note / Historical Note / Administrative History

Founded in 1988, the UniverCity festival promoted itself as an 'academic Chautauqua' designed to break down the barriers between disciplines and professions, university and community. This one-week gathering brought world class intellects to Ball State University for debates, lectures, performances, and discussions on potentials for the world in the 21st century and role of the University in that world.
