Historical Note
Constructed in 2004, the Sursa Performance Hall was designed by Boston based architect, Michael Dennis with a glass facaded foyer extending across the building's western side. The architect's intention was that an important work of art be commissioned as the signature for the building in its foyer. A committee was formed to solicit and review artist proposals for art installations. Eventually the committee decided upon an installation by artist Stephen Knapp well known for his 'light painting' installation titled 'First Symphony' completed in 2006.
