Administrative History
In 1995 a group of alumni, friends, and community leaders were recognized and brought together as members of the Ball State University Museum of Art Benefactors Society. The establishment of the society formalized a tradition of annual giving to the museum that had existed in a less structured recognition program and process for many years.
Ned and Gloria Griner, retired members of Ball State's College of Fine Arts faculty and longtime supporters of the art museum, fostered the vision for the society. They also provided significant leadership that was critical to the successful organization of the group.
The Museum of Art Benefactors Society provides the foundation necessary for the university's commitment to expand, enhance, and maintain the museum's diverse collection. This commitment can only be fulfilled with the valuable support, enthusiasm, and financial assistance of loyal, interested friends and alumni. The society serves as the vehicle for recognizing individuals, corporations, and foundations that support the museum's mission to enhance the understanding of the visual arts.
