Biographical Note / Historical Note / Administrative History
Evelyn Hoke was born in Sangamon County, Illinois. She got a bachelor's degree in science and mathematics from University of Illinois in 1926 and Masters of Science degree in 1938 from University of Michigan. Hoke was appointed Director of Teaching Materials Service in 1939 and stayed in that position until she retired on 1969 to join the Peace Corps. Right before her retirement, Evelyn Hoke received an National Education Association award for being a pioneer in audio-visual education.
