Biographical / Historical
RAP magazine was published as a supplement to the Daily News in the Spring of 1970. The ideology behind RAP was for the students to create a commentary on politics and art similar to the style of national publications, such as The New Republic or Ramparts. Issues explored in the magazine included: psychological counseling, student protests, race relations, university policies, pollution, homosexuality, drugs, and politics.
The first issue of the magazine was released in March of 1970, but the publication soon went out of circulation due to a lack of funding. During its brief run, RAP magazine and its contributors received several awards, including first place and honorable mention in the Best Critical Essay division at the 1971 Indiana Collegiate Press Association (ICPA) convention.
"The opinions expressed in RAP are those of the authors and editors of RAP and do not necessarily represent the opinions of Ball State University, its administration, faculty or students.
