East Central Neighborhood Association records
Scope and Contents
The collection includes records materials related to the business and activities of the East Central Neighborhood Association. Included are guides to the Old Washington Street Festival (1979 and 1980) and the festival's Walking Tour guides (1977-1986). Additionally, the collection includes papers creating the Emily Kimbrough Historic District, a study of the neighborhood, and minutes of the Board of Directors meetings from 1989 and 1990.

Administrative History
The East Central Neighborhood Association was formed in 1976 and since then has devoted itself to protecting the historical integrity and the physical safety of the community. The Association includes the entire Emily Kimbrough Historic District, an architecturally significant area of Muncie, Indiana that grew up with the gas boom of the 1890s. At that time the community boasted much of Muncie's wealth. The Historic District was established in 1976 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
In 1977 the Association began holding the Old Washington Street Festival, a celebration of the community's history and culture.
