Biographical Note
Members of the Gibson, Gumpp, Younce families were among the early pioneers of Delaware County. Robert Gibson, a native of the Carolinas, established his home in Monroe Township. His grandson, Taylor G. Gibson, became one of the leading farmers of Delaware County, raising both cattle and hogs. He served as township trustee from 1900 through 1905 and was then elected to the county council.
On February 22, 1882, Mr. Gibson married Miss Rosetta Gumpp, daughter of David and Susan (Younce) Gumpp of Union Township. The Gumpps were also early pioneers, coming to Delaware County in 1835. Mr. & Mrs. Gibson eventually became the parents of eight children.
