Biographical Note
Sandra Sue Seiwert was born February 24, 1957 in Rochester, Indiana. She excelled in school and graduated as valedictorian at Rochester High School. Sandra went on to study at Purdue University and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1979 with a Bachelors in Dietetics. She married Scott Emerson Helt on May 8, 1982. After graduation she worked as a registered dietitian from 1981 to 1989 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Virginia, Harrisburg Hospital in Pennsylvania, and as a self-employed consultant to nursing homes and individuals in Marion, Indiana.
After her divorce from Scott, Sandra has lived in Muncie, Indiana since April 1989. She worked as an outpatient dietitian at Ball Memorial Hospital and then decided to return to school in 1998 for her Masters in TESOL at Ball State University. She met James Curtis Cary while at Ball State and they married in 1996. Sandra taught in the English Department at Ball State and also conducted trips with the International Programs Department. Sandra has been on trips to Jamaica, the American Southwest, East Asia, South America and to 49 of the 50 United States. She is extremely active in her church, enjoys singing, dancing, yoga, and protecting wildlife.
