Academic Libraries of Indiana (ALI) was established in 2003, as a way to support economic development in Indiana; promote collaboration, innovation, preservation, and resource sharing among academic libraries; to maintain resources for improving teaching, learning, and resource sharing; and to improve Indiana's information infrastructure. In 2010, ALI decided to make the Archives & Special Collections at Ball State University Libraries its offical repository.
