This collection contains information about the Indiana and Delaware County Health Board. Within this collection are papers which relate to the Health Board, annual reports (1985), meeting agendas (1986), correspondence (1988), and scrapbooks which contain newspaper clippings.

The collection consists of files relating to the operation of the D.C.T.A. from 1919 to 1991. This includes annual reports, short histories, scrapbooks, statistical reports on tuberculosis in Delaware County, photographs, articles of incorporation, Christmas Seals sales, relations with other Delaware County organizations, policy, employment practices, and various programs. Oversize material consists of the 1922 Certificate of Incorporation and a 1987 Proclamation of “TB Awareness Week.”

The collection contains a variety of documents used in the trial. Some were entered as evidence while others were entered as evidence in other lawsuits. Most of the documents pertain to research on the connection between smoking and cancer and to what tobacco companies knew about that connection. In addition, the collection contains a number of articles from the Ball State Daily News that covered the trial.

The collection includes 97 issues of Physical Culture magazine dated between February 1910 and August-September 1951. There are also duplicate copies of some of the issues. Also included are Volumes II and V of Macfadden’s Encyclopedia of Physical Culture, both self-published in 1920 by Macfadden.
