Scope and Contents

This collection includes essays, articles and other research material created or collected by Arthur Andrew Olson III ranging from 2009 to 2016 regarding the lineage and life of David Kilgore (1804-1879) and other related topics in Delaware County and Indiana history including the settlement and relocation of Native American peoples, state and national politics, and railroads during the period between Indiana statehood and the era of Reconstruction following the United States Civil War.

The collection also includes grant and research proposals, research projects and supplementary research materials, audio and video recordings and electronic files.

The bulk of the collection focuses on bus transportation. One file of note contains an article about journalist and news anchor Jim Lehrer's transporation collection, and included with the article is a personal, handwritten note from Lehrer to John Hardacre.

The Local 287 records include the original charter (1936), agreements between UAW-CIO Local 287 and BorgWarner (1938-1986), constitution and by-laws (1942-1986), brochures related to pensions and benefits (1961-1980), a history of the Local (1978), minutes (1937-1985), and the Labor Beacon newspaper (1952-2000).
